Am I the only experiencing a possible bug with the latest update of Bootskin? Once I updated the program this week, new bootskins don't automatically get imported like they used to...I've had to manually import each one. That's the minor bug. The major bug is that, no matter which bootskin I set as active, when I boot up the computer, I get the default XP screen. I've tried unintalling and reinstalling this newest version of Bootskin, but I'm still having the same problem.
wwwaaahhh!!!!
Hm, seems like Ipok is having somewhat of the same problem....

I was trying to figure out where and how to post my problem with Bootskin when I came across your posts. I'm having the same problem. I purchased Object Desktop the beginning of Feb and finally got to the point where all the programs were working at the same time. Now whenever I download Bootskin and apply a bootscreen, my system will not start up. It will go the the original bootscreen and then a dark grey screen. The only way I can start my system is in safe mode, then I have to uninstall Bootskin altogether, then when I restart, my system is back to normal. My system is only 8 mos old so the battery shouldn't need to be changed. I'm having difficulties with Logon Studio also. I don't know if they are related but they pretty much stopped working for me at the same time.

Help!! When I download a bootskin from the website. All it download is a file call "dodxpboot.bootskin" NO zip file or any other files with it.
I have try this on other bootskins. But the same thing with them too.
I also try to import that "******.bootskin" file in to the BootSkin program. But it does not see it. Before I install the Bootskin program on my computer. All the "skins" that I got was a zip files
but now it is not get them as a zip file. I show the name of the file with .bootskin and nother else. And the file size is 15kb not the same as the file that I am downloading.
Can someone tell what I am doing wrong or how to get them download as a zip file!!! Thank for your help

I seem to be experiencing a similar problem to juliewantsitnow. On my XP pro laptop, when I choose a bootskin and then restart the computer freezes just after the bootskin would go away. The fix I've found is that I force shutdown and reboot into Safemode and use bootskin to return to the default windows boot.
I am running the latest version of Bootskin from bootskin.com (1.03)
I've tried about 5 different skins. Including the ones included with bootskin.
I do have hibernate enabled but it has not running during this.
Anymore suggestions?

I don't know anything about the hybernation thingy with Bootskin but I *do* know this: If the "progress bar" is place too close to the edge (1? 2?) and/or the width is too wide (638, something like that) it WILL cause a boot problem. All is fine up to the point where our new Bootskin wants to kick in but instead the reboot sequence starts all over again (as in reset were pressed). Only way to get out of it is to do a System Restore (to last successful boot/whatever)
I keep wanting to abbriviate Bootskin to BS but I like the program too much to actually do that.

I appreciate the response Graypony
. But as far as I can tell the problem on my machine comes after the Bootskin has kicked in and is on its way to whatever happens next. At which point the screen goes back and there is the remnants of the "progress bar" and the computer locks.

i am having the same problem (i think) as djweso. when i boot up, i get the bootskin, it loads (taking twice as long as normal) then when the bootskin goes away and i should get my win logon icons, but instead i get a black screen that goes nowhere... to get back on my machine i have to restart and go to last known good configuration. any fixes for this?

I don't mean to sound ungrateful for the work that a lot of people have done on these skins, but none of them seem to work very well for me. First of all, I have a laptop. The screen resolutions required by most of the themes require a resolution well in excess of what my laptop is capable of (1024x768). Any descripton of a theme should always include the resolution it is designed for.
Second, desktopx doesn't seem to me to be very stable. Scripts will run 3 or 4 times and then suddenly stop working. I downloaded calendar object I downloaded and placed on the right side of my screen. The next time I booted up one of the calendar days (and only one) showed up on the left side. I changed the object properties to make it show up in the proper location but it never took.
I downloaded a second theme and it initially displayed properly but with every restart the theme's objects moved an inch and half to the right until finally, the whole theme disappeared.
As for bootskin, it didn't work at all. The computer wouldn't even boot when it was loaded.
Am I the only one with these problems? I doubt it.

I posted a new topic/thread for this in the Help section where my problem belongs. Hope those that said they were having similar problems can get help too as I do.
